The
Badaling International Friendship Forest (BIFF) is located at the foot of the world-famous Badaling Great Wall. This environmental park is exclusively sponsored by ConocoPhillips; initiated, designed, planned and developed by the US-China Environmental Fund; and administratively and functionally developed by Badaling Special Zone Administration and Beijing Badaling Tourism General Company.
The objective of the park is to create a harmonious environment that supplements the Badaling Great Wall in protecting and prominently displaying the Wall's historical heritage, cultural essence and ecological environment.
The altitude of the park is from 630 to 800 meters above sea level, covering an area of 133 hectares. It is adjacent to the main gate of the Badaling Great Wall and is bordered by the Great Wall Museum, cable car station and surrounding parking lot to the west. The area is located in the monsoon temperate zone with the four seasons of the year providing a beautiful and varied environmental landscape. The education signs along the trails tell Badaling's past, allowing visitors to learn the history and culture of the Wall and also to sense its contributions to environment conservation and survival of human beings.

Badaling Great Wall is a result of mankind's wisdom and the elite from the Ming Dynasty walls. Year by year, the Wall has been receiving countless visitors and the heads of government from all over the world. The construction of the BIFF provides an opportunity for both improving the ecological environment of the Badaling scenic area and a place to visitors to relax and enjoy the splendor of the Great Wall.
ConocoPhillips' initial contribution to the BIFF construction was RMB 5 million (approximately USD 618,000). The grand opening of the park was October 28, 2003. ConocoPhillips is providing RMB 100,000 each year for maintenance up to 10 years. BIFF is open to the public free of charge.
ConocoPhillips' sponsorship of the BIFF builds employee pride and is part of the company's commitment to corporate responsibility, environmental protection and community involvement. COPC employees and their families regularly visit the BIFF for tree planting and clean ups.
