Love & Hope Program

The Love & Hope Project was developed by the China Association of Social Workers (CASW) and the TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital (TICH) of Tianjin to fund heart surgery for 2-14-year-old children born with heart conditions or who suffer from heart disease. The project is specifically aimed at orphans and children from severely deprived families. Each child selected under the program is awarded RMB 10, 000 (US$1,500) to fund their heart surgery.

Between 2008 and 2012, ConocoPhillips China donated RMB 2,550,000 (US$390,000) to fund heart surgery for 250 severely underprivileged children born with congenital heart disease.

In addition to donations, supported by the company, Employee Volunteer Committee frequently call employee volunteers to visit children receiving treatment at the hospital. They bring toys and snacks and play games with them. In 2011, a book shelf and children’s books were donated to make a reading corner in children’s rest room. Employee’s visit and companion brings happiness and consolation to the children. In 2012 each child received a photo album with volunteers’ wishes and photos taken during their stay in hospital as a gift.

Beacons of Hope Program

“Beacons of Hope” offers health check programs to underprivileged children in Beijing. The program was initiated by two high school students from Dulwich College in Beijing. They identify local migrant schools where students are deprived of health or medical checkup in some cases, from birth.

In 2010 and 2012, ConocoPhillips China donated RMB47,500 (US$7,4000) to the program to fund medical checkups for 400 students from Xin Xin and Bo Shi Migrant school. Staff and their family members helped as volunteers at the checkup and their contribution was highly appreciated by the hospital and the Schools.
