COPC 2006 Summer Internship Program Successfully Wrapped

For the first time, ConocoPhillips China (COPC) welcomed 12 students from Chinese universities to participate in a summer internship program. The program lasted from July 3 to August 31 during which time each intern was assigned a mentor as they were guided through the operations of the Beijing and Tanggu offices. In addition, COPC arranged field trips for the interns which took them to the Project Management Team Construction Site and the Tanggu Warehouse.
Overall, the 12 interns were split into Exploration, Subsurface, Drilling, HR, HSE, and Administration departments. COPC also provided and encouraged them to participate in mentor-mentee training, presentation skill training, English language classes and Toastmasters meetings. An Internship Teambuilding event also took place at Longtan Park, where the interns got to grips with some rock climbing.
At the end of the program, each intern was invited to give a 10-minute presentation to talk about what he or she had learnt at COPC. COPC President, Jim Knudsen, and COPC Executive VP, Dan Bailie, invited all interns to a group lunch where they praised the interns for their effort in making the program a success.
