ConocoPhillips China Donates RMB 2.51million (US$375thousand) to Fund School House Rental for Migrant Workers’ Children

Beijing, December 15, 2010 —ConocoPhillips China Inc (COPC), a subsidiary of ConocoPhillips [NYSE: COP], announced it will fund the lease of a schoolhouse for the Light & Love School by providing RMB2.51 million (US$375thousand). The funding will enable the children of about 110 migrant workers to have a stable place for education and accommodation.

The new schoolhouse will occupy 6,000 square meters in the Daxingzhuang Village, Songzhuang, Beijing. It will consist of a teaching area and a living area, allowing the school’s more than one hundred children to study and live in the compound.

”At ConocoPhillips, we believe that our ability to grow depends not only on our business successes, but also on our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen,” said Georg Storaker, president of ConocoPhillips China. “We are pleased that the school will have a stable and nice place to provide education and accommodation support to disadvantaged children.”

Founded in 2004, the Light & Love School is a non-profit organization that provides underprivileged children with education. Its operation mainly relies on social charity donation and volunteer services. Currently there are about 110 children studying and living in this school. ConocoPhillips China and its employees have been offering continuous financial support as well as volunteer activities to the school since 2005.

"I have run this school for six years, during which I encountered many difficulties,” said Shi Qinghua, Principal of Light & Love School. “But ConocoPhillips China and its people have supported us for more than 5 years, which has been relieving us from worries, A new and stable schoolhouse with the RMB2.51 million donation by ConocoPhillips China is a critical help for us – during the past six years, we had to move seven times and each move caused a hurt to the children and a loss to the school. ConocoPhillips China helps to fund a stable home for the children, and also will enable us to endow more help to more underprivileged children.”
