SHORELINE ASSESSMENT AND CLEANUP

ConocoPhillips began a daily shoreline surveillance, sampling, and general clean up program in an effort to monitor, respond and protect the shoreline of Bohai Bay. In three months this team surveyed nearly 155,000 km of shoreline by vehicle and 8,500 km on foot without finding any evidence of a sheen reaching the shoreline, and only minimal evidence (a few tiny tar balls, two to five centimeters in diameter) of any residual hydrocarbons from Peng Lai 19-3 washing ashore. In addition to these daily searches, the team collected approximately 16,570 kg of trash and debris.
