Engineering
An engineering career in the company's Exploration and Production organization provides an exciting way to be on the edge of new developments at ConocoPhillips. Using state-of-the-art technology, you will explore for and produce crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids (NGL) on a worldwide basis. Your work may include preparing remedial work-overs, stimulation evaluations, and procedures, providing engineering support during field operations, production optimization, reservoir performance evaluations, facilities optimization, and upgrades, identifying new drilling prospects, preparing drilling well plans and providing engineering support during drilling operations.
Engineering positions supporting the company's Refining and Marketing organization also offer unique challenges. As a company with strong regional brands in the U.S., Europe and Asia, we strive to fulfill the potential of our employees with extraordinary leadership. Depending on your assignment, your focus may range from major capital project support to plant optimization. Capital project support includes working on initial project development studies; developing process, civil, electrical/instrumentation, or mechanical engineering designs; assisting with project management activities; interfacing with vendors, contractors and technical experts to ensure quality designs; and identification of new ideas and innovative concepts for continuous improvement of designs and design practices. In addition, technology divisions complete work on fuel evaluation and quality assurance.

Geoscientists at ConocoPhillips use state-of-the-art technology to discover oil and gas fields worldwide. As opportunities grow, we may send our explorationists to some of the globe's most remote frontiers. Our earth scientists pursue their work with the aid of the most sophisticated electronic equipment and the latest technology applications. We employ specialists in several disciplines, such as structural geology, sequence stratigraphy, basin analysis, petrophysics, seismic acquisition, and processing and seismic processing development. New hires receive entry-level assignments, formal training and progressive responsibilities so they can rapidly develop their core skills. New employees begin their assignments with extensive workshops and on-the-job training augmented by widely varied field experiences.
