ConocoPhillips is ready to provide support to the communities that are badly impacted by natural disasters. We provided funds to Sichuan Wenchuan in 2008 and Qinghai Yushu in 2010 that were devastated by earthquakes.

COPC Commits RMB 1.5 Million to Support Sichuan Earthquake Recovery Efforts

Till April 25, 2013, ConocoPhillips China has committed RMB 1.5 million to support recovery efforts following the earthquake that struck Ya’an in Sichuan Province on Saturday April 20, 2013. The Company intends to donate the money to relevant qualified organizations, in coordination with the Sichuan Department of Commerce, to reach and support impacted communities in Sichuan.

ConocoPhillips China is also calling for employee donations and will match the amounts donated by the ConocoPhillips China staff, to support the communities in Sichuan.

ConocoPhillips continues to liaise closely with contacts in the Sichuan area to explore further ways we can help those families and communities that have been impacted by this disaster.

Qinghai Yushu Earthquake Relief and Reconstruction

In May 2010 ConocoPhillips donated RMB 500,000 (US$73,265) to the Red Cross Society of China for disaster relief efforts following the earthquake that occurred in Qinghai Yushu on April 14, 2010.

Sichuan Wenchuan Earthquake Relief and Reconstruction

ConocoPhillips donated RMB 2million (US$285,000) in the aftermath of the earthquake that occurred in Sichuan on May 12, 2008. Special programs were developed for ConocoPhillips employees as well as contractors inside and outside of China to make donations through salary deduction and the company matched the individual donations. A total of RMB246,736 (US$36,216) were donated by ConocoPhillips China employees and RMB559,740 (US$82,160) by ConocoPhillips China matching fund. All the donations are made through the China Red Cross Society.At ConocoPhillips China 2008 Mid-autumn Festival Party, a total of RMB100,000 (US$14,678), including RMB35,815 (US$5,257) from employees through silent auction and raffle and RMB64,185 (US$9,421) by ConocoPhillips China matching fund, were raised for the construction of one Ankang Library in Sichuan earthquake hit area. The donation was made to the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund.
